Procurement Explore — single-sourced custom fabrication, and where an alternative is

Custom fabrication is the constraint and is largely bought from one supplier. This screen walks the four steps in the order a buyer can act in: where to start, which parts are the same thing to make, who else already makes one, and what a price difference is actually caused by.

Based on your own purchasing record: the received BOMs, the buyer's planned orders and the SCM exception feed.

Part and supplier profiles were not received, so they are GENERATED and labelled DEMO: 813 part profiles (material, weight, size, tolerance, finish, lot, tooling, inspection), 301 supplier capability profiles (processes, envelope, tonnage, certifications, region, load, quoted lead time, tier-2 sources) and 1850 quote responses. They are anchored on what is real — only part numbers from the received BOMs, only company names from the received purchase records, and each supplier's processes derived from the categories that supplier actually supplies. Prices on record, suppliers, lead times and SCM exceptions are received data.

Spend, how concentrated the supply is, and how hard the category is to move. Start where all three are high: large spend, one supplier, and nothing structural stopping a second one. Where it cannot be moved, the answer is a contract, stock or a continuity plan — not a second supplier. Click a row to take that category into step 2.
